Hydraulic satellite motors

are devices that convert the energy of a pressurized working fluid into mechanical energy. They are a drive element widely used in many machines and hydraulic systems.

The distinguishing feature of the hydraulic satellite motors developed by SM Hydro and Stosowanie Maszyn is their internal construction and the possibility of feeding fluids with much lower viscosity and lubricity than mineral and synthetic oils.

The working mechanism of SMW-type hydraulic satellite motors uses a system of elements (envelope, planet , satellites) having gears with evolute shapes. The toothed parts moving during operation form pressure chambers sealed due to the occurring “rolling” of the elements. The satellites forming the working mechanism act, so to speak, as “distributors and sealers”, minimizing the occurrence of torsion and the associated internal pressure compensation. In addition to the working mechanism, the key design element of SMW hydraulic satellite motors are, controlling the flow of the feed fluid, gearing plates made of sintered carbide, significantly increasing the life and trouble-free operation of the motor.

The role of the supply fluid of SMW hydraulic satellite MOTORS can be performed primarily by
water-oil emulsions, but also vegetable oils, glycol, and in some designs even pure water. The supply of synthetic or natural oils is, of course, also possible, but requires the selection of an appropriate design version.

Application of hydraulic satellite motors

The use of water-oil emulsion to drive SMW hydraulic satellite motors opens up the possibility of using them wherever water-oil mains that also supply other equipment are in range. Water-oil emulsion reduces and even eliminates the possibility of spontaneous combustion of the working fluid. That property is the main reason for the use of SMW SM Hydro hydraulic satellite motors in the mining industry. In coal mines, thanks to the availability of water-oil emulsion powering, hydraulic satellite engines have found application as a driving unit in a number of tools of the so-called small mechanization used for underground work (see – tools ).

SMW hydraulic satellite motors are also the main component of various types of drive units to improve the operation of larger equipment, such as chain tensioning systems of scraper conveyors. In addition to mining, SMW hydraulic satellite motors can also be used in many other areas of the economy where power hydraulics is applied ( construction, transportation, shipbuilding, food industry, etc. ) wherever water-oil mains are used for power supply.
